Is there a doctor in the house? Why, yes there is! Dr Em! Last week we celebrated Emily's doctorship with dinner and drinks at Una's @ Broadway (mmmmm schnitzel). I think the best thing about Em's doctorate is the fact that she is now allowed to use the phrase "Trust me, I'm a Doctor". I'm sure it's going to get frequent use in the future... "Are you sure this shot of tequila is a good idea?"..."Trust me, I'm a Doctor"

Congratulations Emily! We're very impressed :D (photos)

On the weekend Emily and Goldy hosted a last hurrah at their apartment complex. They will be moving out soon and they thought a BBQ / Cocktail Party, would be a good way to say farewell. So what happens when you get a bunch of IT nerds and engineers together at a party? I think the unofficial title for the evening could be "When Geeks Party!". During the evening we answered age-old questions such as:

  • What happens when you add Sodium to water?

  • Can I fit my fist in my mouth?

  • How many sausages can I fit on a plate?

Thanks to Emily and Goldy for hosting such an interesting evening. I'm sure you're going to miss that beautiful view.

Dance Monkey Boy, Dance!Sausages on a plateAndrewCan I fit my fist in my mouth
(apparently, the answer is yes)

Some photos are now up from our family gathering in Kiama last weekend (photos). I haven't posted any recent photos of my other favourite boy and Princess Emily. Thought everyone would appreciate an update:
  • Oscar was very excited to blow bubbles using the bubble gun. He'd blow bubbles and then gleefully watch them float away and excitedly yell, "BUBBLES!!!". There were a few mishaps though, a couple of times he dipped the gun in the detergent and then put the soapy end in his mouth. There was much spluttering and spitting.

  • Princess Emily is very excited that she is coming to watch our wedding ceremony. Apparently she is going to wear a pink dress and shiny blue shoes. When Emily gets married she wants to wear a pink wedding dress. She thinks I should wear a red wedding dress because red is my favourite colour.

  • Apparently Oscar now knows who the boss is in the Bell household. The other day Annie told Oscar to do something and when he asked why she said, "because I'm the boss!". Richie agreed and said, "That's right, Oscar. Daddy isn't even the boss! Mummy is the boss!". Now Oscar often repeats to himself "Okkie the boss? Nooooo!... Daddy the boss? Nooooo!... Mummy the boss? YES!!!".

It was Emily's 3rd birthday on Sunday... I can't believe how quickly she is growing up. Karen organised a big birthday party with lots of other children ranging in age from 6 months to 8 years (should I say 25 years? After all, I'm just a big kid). Emily was overwhelmed - there were so many different kids to play with, lollies to eat and games to play. She was very excited *grin*.

The kids played one party game - pass the parcel. I'm not sure the younger children quite got the concept. Sometimes they had to be (strongly) encouraged to actually pass the parcel to the next child. But Karen (supermum) made sure that every child got a prize so there were no tears in the end (the menfolk were disappointed...apparently you need to teach a child that there is only one winner. You need to ram that point home at an early age... aren't they big meanies!).

Karen had made a mermaid birthday cake for Emily. When it came to cutting the birthday cake, Emily wanted to chop off the mermaid's head. A regular little Madame la Guillotine...

Happy Birthday Emily!!! Check out the photos (Click here).
