Another visiting friend to entertain! Last week, Ben was in London for work. Poor Ben, he didn't even have time to get over his jetlag before he was back on a plane home. The weather was beautiful so we decided that Pimms on the Queen Mary was an ideal touristy outing. The Queen Mary is boat on the Thames that also serves as a pub.

There is really nothing quite as refreshing as a glass of Pimms on a hot summer's day. The jugs of Pimms were garnished with slices of strawberry and cucumber and sprigs of mint. Cucumber in an alcoholic drink seems weird, but it really does work. Before long we'd guzzled four jugs of Pimms; that's a jug each! Then Andrew and I had to head off to play ultimate.

Pimms on the Queen Mary is one of the first things that we did when we came to London. We sipped Pimms with Tash and Nat on our first weekend in London. It's strange to think that we've been here for 8 months. So much has happened in those 8 months. We've said goodbye to friends (Tash actually) and made new ones that we hope we'll have forever. We've visited so many new places. It's gone so quickly and yet that first outing on the Queen Mary seems so long ago.

Ben and Janet were married on the 4th December on a boat on Sydney Harbour. What a beautiful setting for a wedding! They were married on the bow of the boat with the Opera House in the background. Janet looked stunning in an elegant, ivory gown. Ben scrubbed up nicely and arrived on time, which is an impressive feat for a Wilson boy (Wilson boys have their own time zone - WST). Congratulations Ben and Janet! (photos)

Andrew and I (and many others on the boat) were burnt to a crisp at the wedding. Of course, when you go to a wedding the first thing you pack is the sunscreen. Ok, I admit, it was a wedding on a boat in the middle of the harbour on a beautiful sunny day. If we'd thought about it carefully we probably would have concluded that sunscreen would come in handy. We did apply sunscreen, after we'd been on the boat for around an hour, but by then it was too late, the damage was done. Getting burnt when you're wearing a cocktail dress is not a good idea. I was wearing a dress with a low V neckline in the front, a V neckline in the back and I'd accessorised with a necklace. I now have a very interesting tan line.

The following do not mix with sunburn:
  1. Cocktail dresses with a V neckline
  2. Chunky necklaces
  3. Camera straps
  4. T-back singlet tops
  5. Shaved heads
  6. Sunglasses or goggles
