Trivia: Badgers make the best Olympic mascots

We kinda sucked at trivia last night. The questions seemed harder this week. Or maybe we were a little overconfident after the triumphs (if you can call 3rd place a triumph) of previous outings. Maybe we were just stupider than usual. Whatever the reason we didn't walk away with a voucher for third place. We did win a bottle of wine though.

Last night 12th, 9th, 7th and 5th places were awarded a bottle of wine. At the end of the trivia we knew that we hadn't done fantastically so we decided that we'd be happy with a bottle of wine prize. When the quiz master started to announce the results we chanted "12th place, 12th place, 12th place!". We didn't get 12th place. So we chanted "9th place, 9th place, 9th place". Still no bottle of wine. 7th place? We all cheered when the quiz master announced our team name.

I'm sure that they've never seen a team so happy to come in at 7th place. We decided that any trivia night where you don't leave empty handed is a good trivia night.

Here's your chance at some of the questions from last night:
  1. What are the three most populated cities in Canada? (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

  2. Of these three names, which one has not been the name of a King of England in the last 500 years -- William or Richard or Charles?

  3. What is the name of the British sitcom about two rag and bone men living in Oil Drum Lane in Shepherd's Bush?

  4. True or False? Julia Gillard is the first female and first foreign-born deputy Prime Minister of Australia.

  5. This event was in Christchurch in 1974, Brisbane in 1982, Auckland in 1990 and Melbourne in 2006. Where will it be held in 2014?

  6. Forever Blowing Bubbles is associated with which English football team?

  7. This is the name of a region in South Africa, a city in Brazil and a place in Sumatra, Indonesia. What is it?

  8. Which insects are used in this bloodsport from China which dates back to the Tang Dynasty?

You know the drill. Guesses in the comments. No cheating with Google.
