Nothing exciting to report today as we spent most of the day getting home.
I booked a flight on REX thinking it would be better than Jetstar. It wasn't. REX don't publish their full itinerary on the ticket so our Ballina to Sydney flight ended up being a Ballina to Sydney with a 30 minute stop over in Newcastle flight. The two and a half hour flight time recorded with the flight information should have been a give away when I made the booking. Oh well, lesson learned.
It means that Andrew and I are both exhausted after spending two hours restraining a tired and cranky toddler on a 34 seater aircraft [AW: a Saab A340B]. You can't really run her up and down the aisle on such a tiny aeroplane. In fact we weren't even allowed to get out of our seats on the flight between Newcastle and Sydney. So tonight's post is going to be a short one.
At the end of Evie's family book are photos of her different families. There is a photo of the Wilsons, the Daleys, her extended family at a Christmas gathering and on the last page a photo of Evie, Andrew and me. As I show her the photos I say to her "Here is the Wilson family and here is the Daley family. Here is your BIG family and here is your LITTLE family".
Here is a new photo of Evie's little family. Andrew and I are usually behind the camera so it's not often we get a photo of the three of us.

I'm a bit sad that today was our last full day in Byron Bay. I've really enjoyed our family holiday.
We took a Wilson family photo today.
Here is last year's photo for comparison. The babies, Julius and Evie, have grown up a lot in a year.

And the fun just NEVER stops!
We headed back to the kid-friendly beach at Brunswick Heads early today. We couldn't have asked for a lovelier morning. The water was a little bit chilly but amazingly clear. It was perfect for snorkeling even though there wasn't much to see. Andrew did spot this big blue jelly fish.
Evie had fun playing in the sand and splashing in the shallows for a while. Until suddenly she decided she'd had enough. She led me back to the sun tent and started pointing at all the bags. I figured it was time to pack up. Hopefully we'll turn her into a proper beach baby one of these days.
After the beach we headed to the Bangalow show. Cows, a petting zoo, a jumping castle and a big purple monkey. Really, how much fun can you fit into one day?

More holiday fun today.
Pancakes, eggs, bacon and hash browns in the morning for brother Ben's birthday...
...then a play in the park...
...a few slices of watermelon...
...fun with water in the backyard...
and a bit of a party in the evening.

Today we headed to Brunswick Heads to try a spot of fishing. Isaac was given a rod as a present and he was very keen to try it out. The poor boy had been asking to go fishing since we arrived.
The river at Brunswick Heads was crystal clear. You could actually see the fish swimming around in the water. Sadly, I think this contributed to the reason the boys didn't actually catch any fish. They'd cast their rod, the fish would check out the lure and then look over at everyone standing on the bank. They weren't falling for it!
Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the actual fishing. I had to retreat into a cafe with Evie as she was very cranky because I wouldn't let her jump in the river.
